I use clinically prescribed exercise to treat injury, chronic pain, disability and chronic disease. At your first appointment I assess your movement and function, design a graded exercise program, and explain exactly what we’re doing and why. I also write clinical reports back to your GP, specialist, or case manager so everyone’s on the same page.
Exercise Physiology focuses on restoring function through graded exercise — especially for complex, chronic or systemic conditions. Because I’m based at Symmetry Physiotherapy in Hoppers Crossing, I work alongside the physio team and can coordinate your care directly if you’re seeing both of us.
No referral is needed if you’re coming as a private patient — just book directly. A GP referral (EPC/CDM plan) is required for Medicare rebates. Referrals are also required for WorkCover, TAC, NDIS and DVA. Not sure which applies to you? Call reception.
Yes — and the evidence is strong. Graded exercise gradually retrains the our body's system, builds movement tolerance, and restores your confidence in your body. In most cases, rest and avoiding movement makes things worse over time, not better.
It depends on the injury and the stage of recovery. In most cases, appropriate movement started early produces better outcomes than prolonged rest. ‘Appropriate’ is the key word — that’s exactly what clinical exercise prescription is for. I find the right type and amount of movement for your specific situation. If the injury is acute, I'd recommend discussing this further with Physiotherapy.
Yes. Exercise Physiology is an approved WorkCover service in Victoria. Once your GP or specialist makes a referral, your insurer typically funds the sessions. You don’t need to be pain-free to start. My focus is on building your functional capacity and supporting a safe, sustainable return to work.
No. The evidence consistently shows that waiting to be completely pain-free before returning to work is not necessary — and can actually prolong recovery. I work with your case manager, employer and treating team to build the functional capacity your role requires, at a pace that’s safe.
I design programs focused on your individual NDIS goals — which might include improving mobility, building strength, reducing falls risk, or developing an independent exercise habit. I’m a registered NDIS provider and can work directly with you, your Support Coordinator, or your planner.
Yes. Exercise is one of the most effective treatments for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes. It improves insulin sensitivity, helps regulate blood glucose, supports healthy weight and reduces cardiovascular risk. I design programs that are safe and effective for your specific type of diabetes and current fitness level.
Yes, when it’s properly prescribed. Exercise is a first-line treatment for many cardiovascular conditions. My clinical assessment identifies your safe exercise threshold and your program is built from there. I have experience with cardiac rehabilitation for atrial fibrillation, heart failure and post-cardiac event recovery.
No, exercise can help improve bone density however it is very specific. Together we work out your starting capacity and technique and design a program that meets osteogenic properties. Think all things weights such as the LiftMOR or Onero bone protocols.
The first session is a clinical assessment. We go through your medical history, current symptoms and medications. I assess your strength, balance, flexibility and aerobic capacity. We talk about your goals. You leave with a written program and a clear explanation of why each part is included.
It depends on your condition, your starting point and your goals. Some patients reach their primary goals in 6–8 sessions. Others with complex or chronic conditions work with me over several months. I’ll give you an honest timeline at your initial assessment and we’ll review it as you progress.
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available for patients across Victoria — for program reviews, exercise coaching, education and ongoing management. Initial appointments are always best completed face to face.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in. Bring any relevant medical records, imaging reports or referral letters. WorkCover and TAC patients: bring your claim number and case manager details. NDIS participants: bring your plan or your Support Coordinator’s contact details.
I manage my appointments the old fashion way, by phone or in person. This is because I find it prevents scheduling errors. For appointments call directly on (03) 9369-4999. Reception will confirm your funding pathway and let you know if you need a referral before your first session.
Costs vary based on appointment duration and funding codes. Please call reception directly as they will and can provide these details for you.
Appointment times vary however I offer 60minute, 45minute and 30minute reviews. All initial appointments are 45minutes in length. Review appointment durations are agreed and follow specific treatment plans.
